The Art of ZEN and MP3 Players

It's been months since I touched this place. Bleh. I need to do this more often. Gotta shift stuff around to the website later in the week.

In any case... Birthday came and went (Oct. 2nd, now 27 years older,) got a $100 from Roy as an unexpected present. (Okay, considering that he gave me a $27,000 Nissan Titan for Christmas, all paid off... then I shouldn't be suprised. But that would piss me off.)

So what do I do with a hundered bucks? Get something for the Queen that would be better than the 6-CD player (despite that I find it useful.) And since Best Buy was having a little coupon sail of 10% off for certain products, I went shopping--for an MP3 player.

Now, I'm hearing "iPod! iPod!", but... I don't like the idea. I'm not sure, but I try not to buy too deeply into that sort of thing. I peffer function over form, and that's when I snagged a little Creative ZEN Nano, the white 512Mb model. (What, no green case?) It has all what I need--decent storage of on average 120 songs, shuffle feature, and flash drive capabilities in a pinch. Since I already carry a PNY 512 flash, that's mega bonus.

Right now I'm ripping choice material from my CDs--I have Kaijuice CD1 dealt with, and just finished up "La Filliette Revolutionare UTENA - Eve of Absolute Evolution Revolution." I've got a bunch of Wierd Al and Nightwish to pick through, along with looking in my current car CDs (some King Crimson, Jimmy Buffet, Silent Mobius OMP soundtracks, and FF6 soundtracks, at the least.) Then I have to listen through some new stuff, like this FFXI soundtrack and the double-disc of Xenogears soundtrack.

Ahh, now if I can just get a decent pair of headphones with good bass, along with an AUX audio cable... not even a certain annoying blue Lunus ancient in Horizon can bother me. >)
